Yinka Ilori 'Ojukokoro'
For his newest limited edition artwork, designer Yinka Ilori looks to the Yoruba language spoken by the people of Western Nigeria. Translating to greediness, the word “ojukokoro” can be broken down and interpreted as the human desire to always want more. The game of basketball requires the opposite, it’s a team sport which calls for its players to succeed working with what they already have – it has mindfulness at its core.
Collaborating closely with Yinka, we transformed an archival pattern for application across a limited edition run of basketballs. Subsequently, we expanded the project, developing graphics for totes, t-shirts, and a limited edition basketball ticket artwork inspired by vintage NBA graphics and collectibles. Additionally, we created various digital assets tailored for Yinka's channels.
