Spotify's "Big On The Internet" playlist
The playlist stands out as a unique compilation of music designed to encapsulate internet and viral trends from across the digital landscape. With just under 2.5 million followers, it serves as a reflection of our current and diverse online world.
In crafting its identity, we aimed to mirror a computer desktop environment—a familiar interface through which we navigate and consume vast amounts of visual and auditory content daily. Our desktops allow us to engage with information in myriad ways: viewing, liking, archiving, streaming, and sharing simultaneously. This often results in a chaotic, cluttered, yet dynamic visual experience. At the centre of the design lies a large artwork acting as a digital tapestry, capable of being cropped and fragmented into smaller assets. These assets evolve and "update" over time, mirroring the constant evolution of our machines and ensuring the playlist remains fresh.
